Yuzus have been cultivated deep in the mountains of Japan in Shiromi for a long time. Until a few years ago, the village was almost forgotten, as most residents were over 60 years old. Only through the marketing of this special yuzu juice have younger people become aware of the small village again. Today's yuzu production therefore represents an important element for the preservation of the small village in southern Japan. Once a year during the yuzu harvest season, the residents perform Shinto dances as a form of thanks. These dances are directed at the stars. The ceremony lasts all night, until the stars in the sky have disappeared again.
